Flat vector only, and the form is still an open decision. Warm cream ground, navy and cyan in the subject. Its left edge dissolves into the ivory over 34% of its width.

Canadian financial systems, explained.

Why the system behaves the way it does. The mechanism, not the product pitch.

Where do you want to start?

Each path is a sequence, not a pile of articles.

What a path looks like. Path 2, Credit Scores

2.1 How scores work the two bureaus 2.2 Why yours differs what banks see 2.3 Why it dropped the statement date 2.4 Building from zero first six months 2.5 The thin file $1,500 or $8,000

Each step depends on the one before it. That is the part isolated articles cannot teach. You can read fifty of them and still not see how the pieces connect.

How this works

Money feels confusing because nobody shows you the machinery.

So that is what every page does: one question, one idea, one drawing. No comparison tables, no "best card of 2026", no link that pays us when you click it.

Think Understand the system.
Decide Choose with confidence.
Grow Better decisions compound.

And on the page, that looks like this

01 A question 02 What you assumed 03 What actually happens 04 A diagram 05 You understand it WHICH OPENS THE NEXT QUESTION

Nothing here ends in a dead end. Every page leads somewhere.

Start anywhere

Pick the question closest to yours.

Every one of these is a step inside a path. Answer one, and the path shows you what sits either side of it.

Who writes this

One person, in Winnipeg.

Helping Canadians see money differently, so they make better financial decisions.

I have built a financial life from zero twice: New Zealand in 2009, Canada in 2022. I followed all the standard advice, reached a credit score of 822, and it took fourteen months longer than it should have. Later I worked in credit card operations at a Canadian bank and watched newcomers ask the questions I had asked. This site is the answer I wish someone had given me.

Every page is researched against primary sources: the bank's own fee schedule, the Bank Act, FCAC, the credit bureaus. When something turns out to be wrong it gets corrected in public, with a note saying what changed.

  • Education before persuasion.
  • Clarity over complexity.
  • Long-term thinking over quick wins.
